چکیده

Oxidative stress plays an important role in both induction of diabetes and development complications. This study evaluated the effect leaf extract fractions M. cecropioides on chemical disease induced oxidative stress. The leaves were extracted with methanol partitioned into various fractions. Phytochemical analysis total phenolic content (TPC) done for DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) Ferric reducing antioxidant power assay used to evaluate their vitro potentials extracts at 52.5, 125, 250, 500 1000 µg/ml concentrations ascorbic acid as reference standard. Carbon tetrachloride streptozotocin-Nicotinamide (STZ-NAD) induce respectively. Treatments 200 400 mg/kg using Silymarin Liver function tests lipid peroxidation (LPO) monitor CCL4 while serum enzymes (catalase superoxide dismutase), LPO plasma assays ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) showed highest TPC 386.06 mgGAE/g. EAF butanol (BF) better activity compared IC50s 49.78, 71.57, 98.92 maintained non-significant (p > 0.05) difference between pre-induction post-induction ALT AST concentrations. Also, only protected against significant rise from baseline values which was not achieved 100 silymarin (reference standard treatment). treatment that produced (P<0.05) reduction blood glucose 24 h post-treatment vehicle control group. BF just like metformin able restore catalase almost no (P>0.05) difference. proved effective

Effect of Curcumin on Lipid Profile, Oxidative Stress and Blood Glucose in Experimental Dexamethasone-Induced Diabetes in Rats

Background: The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of curcumin as a flavonoid antioxidant on serum lipid profile, oxidative stress, and blood glucose in experimental models of type 2 diabetes (DM2). Methods: Subcutaneous daily injection of dexamethasone (5 mg/kg/day) for a month was performed to induce DM2. For this purpose, 28 adult male Wistar rats were divided into four group...
